Your wedding day is possibly the most important day of your life. If you are like so many other residents of Las Vegas (and visitors too) you have spent months or even years planning this day. You have gone to great lengths and expenses to make sure that everything is perfect, and probably spent a great deal of money on the wedding dress or tuxedo that you will wear at the ceremony. You will spend a long day in that outfit, and chances are you will sweat a lot, after all weddings are stressful. After the ceremony, you will probably have a reception or party of some sort where you will continue to wear your dress and tuxedo. You will probably have a meal, drink wine and dance with your new spouse and family members. Your dress or tuxedo will probably go through more in one day than typical street clothes do, and when you couple that fact with the fact that these garments are made out of materials that are quite fragile like silks, lace and satins you are going to have some problems. Chances are there is going to be damage to your wedding dress in one form or another. If it drags on the ground as you walk, it is going to get dirty at the bottom. If you are wearing heels there is a good chance that you are going to snag them on the dress as you walk and possibly tear it. You are going to possibly spill liquid or food on it. You are going to sweat in it. Your wedding dress will not be perfect after the wedding day is over, so should you dry clean it before storing it away?
Chances are that you will not wear this dress again, and it will only be kept as a souvenir or possibly to hand down to a relative in the future when they get married. If you are like most people, it will be stored in an attic or closet and only brought out on an anniversary or when some curious relative wants to remember what it looked like. The first thing that you should do once the day is over and you are moving on to the next stage of your life is to dry clean the dress and have any damage repaired. This is for two reasons, namely being that “out of sight is out of mind” and that once it is stored you will probably not realize when the next time you will want to see it will be. Those moments are just as important as the wedding day itself, and you should prepare your dress to be just like it was on your special day. The other reason is the longer that staining on delicate materials sits, the harder it is to get out. Don’t store your wedding dress dirty and forget about it for a year because it will be far harder to bring back to that pristine condition after time goes by. Make dry cleaning the wedding dress, the tuxedo and other formal wear just as much a part of the preparation as picking it out. That way, it will be ready when your daughter wants to see it years from now.
